The larger of the two Canberra Drive sites, The WaterGardens at Canberra, was awarded to United Venture Development by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). This was after the developer submitted the highest bid of $270.2 million or $650 per square metre for the site. The site was listed in the Government Land Sales (GLS) programme.
United Venture Development is jointly owned by UOL Venture Investment (wholly owned by UOL), a subsidiary of UIC (wholly owned by UIC), and Kheng Leong Company Pte Ltd. UDV under UOL owns the majority shares of 50% while the remaining shares are shared between UIC and Kheng Leong Company on a 30:20 basis.
The WaterGardens at Canberra have a total land area of 27,566.1 sqm and GFA of 38,593 sqm GFA. It is expected to have up to 455 units with a permitted height of 5 storeys or 35 to 50 metres. A total of 4 bids were submitted for the site. The second highest bid of $257.9 million came from a partnership of MCC Land (Singapore) and Greatview Group. CSC Land Group (Singapore) submitted the lowest bid of $240 million.
